man...i was gonna write about what an awesome day today was, but then it turned out to be not so awesome, so...i will tell about earlier in the day later. but, i CAN say that God is awesome. the title could have very easily been "Two Brothers Killed In Car Accident on 101 in Menlo Park." here's why:
so after the concert in San Jose, i went to pickup my brother who was at a friend's house, five blocks away. as we got on the 280, my brother noticed that i was kinda running low on gas so he commented. after i asked if he knew any cheap gas stations around, he suggested we go to the Chevron on Lawrence Expressway. so we go there, get gas, and then get on 101 and head home. so we're driving along on 101 with my cruise control at 55mph around Palo Alto, when i hear this weird kinda screeching noise. i turn to my left and see a car slide against the center divide. when he comes away from the center divide, i'm like oh crap, and my brother's saying, better get away, so i slam on the gas to try and get out of the way, but not in time. he hits the back of my car, causing me to fishtail and lose control of my car. i ended up slamming into the center divide as well, before spinning out and ending up facing oncoming traffic in the middle of the freeway.
usually when something like this happens, you call 911 and it takes a little while for CHP to dispatch a car out. and then they radio for a tow truck and that can take a while. so here's where God comes in:
not 30 seconds later, i see police lights and a CHP car pulls up. the officer gets out and comes to see if i can move the car to the side of the road. i tell him the car's not moving, so he goes and sets up flares quick-style and then comes to check on us. not two minutes later, a tow truck shows up, the officer tells us to get out of the car and wait on the shoulder. we do and when i look back at my car, i see my rear bumper hanging by a thread, and my left rear tire nowhere to be found.
i'll end this post here by saying that my brother and i are largely alright, physically...maybe i'll write more later, but not before i ask you guys to pray for me and this whole situation, thank him for watching over us. it's funny, everybody mentioned, "you guys were wearing your seatbelts, huh?" i guess it was a pretty bad accident...
